Grievance redressal

This policy describes how to raise a grievance with Swayam Community under the Digital Personal Data Protection Act, 2023, the Information Technology Act, 2000, and the Information Technology (Intermediary Guidelines and Digital Media Ethics Code) Rules, 2021, as applicable.

Effective 19 August 2026. Last reviewed 19 August 2026. Governed by the laws of India.

2. What you can raise

You may raise a grievance about:

  • Processing of your personal data, including a rights request that was not handled as required.
  • Content or conduct on this website or in community channels that you believe is unlawful or breaches our Terms or Community guidelines.
  • A request to remove or disable access to information you believe is prohibited under applicable law.

3. How to submit

Write to grievance@swayam.community. Use the subject line "Grievance" so it can be routed correctly.

Include, as far as you can:

  • Your name and email address.
  • Whether the grievance is about personal data, content, or another matter.
  • A clear description of the issue, including URLs, dates, and copies where relevant.
  • The outcome you seek.
  • Any prior correspondence with privacy@swayam.community or another published address.

4. Timelines

We will acknowledge a grievance within 24 hours of receipt, where required and reasonably possible.

We will endeavour to resolve a grievance within 15 days of receipt. If a matter is complex or depends on a third party, we will say so and give an update.

These timelines follow the Intermediary Guidelines, 2021 for applicable grievances, and are used as the operating standard for DPDP grievances unless a shorter period is prescribed.

5. Data Principal grievances

If your grievance is about personal data, you may first write to privacy@swayam.community. If you are not satisfied, write to the Grievance Officer.

If you are still not satisfied, you may complain to the Data Protection Board of India in the manner prescribed under the DPDP Act, 2023 and the Rules.

6. Intermediary due diligence

To the extent Swayam Community is an intermediary under the IT Act, 2000, we will observe applicable due diligence, including publication of these Terms, the Privacy notice, and this Grievance policy, and action on orders of a court or competent authority within the time required by law.

Where a complaint concerns information that is prohibited under Rule 3 of the Intermediary Guidelines, 2021, we will act in the manner and time required by those Rules.

7. Good faith

Submit grievances in good faith. Repeat, abusive, or knowingly false complaints may be declined, without affecting any duty we have under law.

8. Changes

This policy is effective from 19 August 2026. Updates, including a change of Grievance Officer, will be posted on this page.
